The {{WikiProject Film}} project banner template should be added (never subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner.

An article's quality assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Film}} project banner on its talk page:

The following values may be used for the class parameter to describe the quality of the article (see Wikipedia:Content assessment for assessment criteria):

FA (for featured articles only; adds articles to Category:FA-Class film articles)  FA
A (adds articles to Category:A-Class film articles)  A
GA (for good articles only; adds articles to Category:GA-Class film articles)  GA
B (adds articles to Category:B-Class film articles) B
C (adds articles to Category:C-Class film articles) C

  • listas – a sortkey to produce a correct ordering of pages within a category, e.g. for The Fifth Element set |listas=Fifth Element, The
  • needs-image - set |needs-image=yes if the article needs an image, such as a poster or on-set photo
  • needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox, e.g. {{Infobox film}}

National and Regional task forcesEdit

  • American – set |American=yes if the article is supported by the American cinema task force
  • Argentine – set |Argentine=yes if the article is supported by the Argentine cinema task force

B-Class checklistEdit

These parameters on apply to articles rated Stub-Class, Start-Class, C-Class, or B-Class. See the assessment department for more details.

  • b1 – set |b1=yes if the article meets criterion #1 for B-Class status; set |b1=no if it does not
  • b2 – set |b2=yes if the article meets criterion #2 for B-Class status; set |b2=no if it does not
  • b3 – set |b3=yes if the article meets criterion #3 for B-Class status; set |b3=no if it does not
  • b4 – set |b4=yes if the article meets criterion #4 for B-Class status; set |b4=no if it does not
  • b5 – set |b5=yes if the article meets criterion #5 for B-Class status; set |b5=no if it does not

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
